Feminist Mobilization and Economic Empowerment

My team and I at Weber Shandwick worked with The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to release a working paper series by Simon Fraser University professor and political scientist Laurel Weldon. The paper series covered the impact of global feminist movements and its impact on women’s economic empowerment.

For the campaign release, I identified potential influencers and partners to help amplify the series, created a media list for potential journalists to pitch to, drafted and designed a one-pager to internally inform partners on the release, and made social graphics and copy for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s social channels.

Intentionalist partnered with local Seattle ice creamery Sweet Alchemy to launch a limited line of ice cream using ingredients from BIPOC-owned small businesses.

In addition to benefitting the local businesses, a portion of the the proceeds from the ice cream sales went to organizations advancing racial justice, including the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, Chief Seattle Club, and BLOC.

I channeled my inner Ben and Jerry’s to come up with three relevant, punny names: Brew the Right Thing, History in the Baking, and Vegan do This Together (my personal favorite).
